This is going to be the first post in a weekly series of posts where we talk about an app for iDevices that we just can’t put down. This weeks app is a free game called eliminate pro and it’s developed by major app store pioneer ngmoco. The premise of the game places you as a new employee of a weaponry development company called Arsenal Megacorp. You are started out with a very simple and weak armor and gun but as you progress through the game both are upgraded and more weapons are unlocked. The game revolves solely around four player death matches which can’t help but make me nostalgic of Halo multiplayer.
The most misunderstood aspect of the game which truly makes it unique is the process of advancing in the game. The first time that you open the game you have a fully energized suit. With an energized suit you can earn credits which allow you to advance to more levels and also to buy more advanced weaponry. Every death match played depletes your energy until you have none left. With an unenergized suit you are still free to play match after match of eliminate pro with only two slight differences. The first is that you will no longer earn any credits and the second is that there is a longer wait time for matches. Without going too far into detail, you can upgrade aspects of your armor or weapon, such as fire rate or jump ability, or you can purchase a brand new armor or weapon, such as a missile launcher or laser.
Along with credits, skill can be lost or gained depending on your performance in battle and helps the servers best pair you with worthy opponents. The nature of the free game along with some unnecessary in app purchases allows for you to have fun on any itunes budget. Overall this game is a necessary application for anyone who enjoys a good FPS, and since it’s free there is no reason not to try it.
