Today (December 1st, 2009) Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the very popular social networking site Facebook, sent an open letter to all Facebook users. Continue on to read GadgetGuy’s summary and opinion on the letter. You will also find the link to the letter in its entirety.

UPDATE 1 (12/10/09): The new privacy settings are now live. Next time you log in to Facebook, a message will pop up that will start guiding you through the process.  Go change your privacy settings now. Be safe.

Zuckerberg begins his Address to his Facebook Nation by telling us all how many people are on Facebook–350 Million. 350 Million?! I have a lot of friend requests to send. I wonder how many friends Zuckerberg has on Facebook. Zuckerberg proceeds by taking a trip down Facebook memory lane, and finding sometime to brag about all of the networks (“Today we even have networks for some entire countries, like India and China.”) Facebook has to offer. In all seriousness, Zuckerberg brings up a very interesting point. He explains that Facebook “networks” worked very well when Facebook was dominated by students (just like us!), but now that Facebook has greatly expanded, many of these networks, which were originally created to provide an easy way to find people you know and to provide some privacy, have expanded to hold millions of people. Because of this, networks have become obsolete. And so, with some implied sadness, Zuckerberg announces the termination of all regional networks. Only region networks are being deleted because those are the only networks with millions of people. But to all the Facebook Lovers that used networks to control their privacy settings and are afraid of creepy people (or your parents) viewing your profile, GadgetGuy says have no fear! Zuckerberg is giving every Facebook user the ability to control who sees each individual piece of content you create or upload. So go ahead. Block that creepy guy from seeing your photos. Block your ex-girlfriend (or ex-boyfriend) from seeing your wall posts. In a few days, Facebook will be telling you to change your privacy settings. All joking aside, be sure to make your privacy settings thorough. Social networking sites (as a matter of fact, the entire Internet) can be a dangerous place if you are not careful.

Zuckerberg ends his address by thanking of us, his users. The same people that have made him worth billions of dollars.

From all of us here at GadgetHigh, you are welcome Mr. Zuckerberg.

Don’t have a facebook? Tell us why! How many times a day to you log into facebook? Will you miss your regional networks?

Is there anything you would like facebook to add?
